The WASR-10 and WASR-10/63 are Romanian built clones of the Pistol Mitralieră model 1963 (PM md. 63) AKM. They are built in the Cugir Arsenal in Romania and imported by Century Arms. They are imported with single stack mag well, upon reaching the USA, the mag wells are widened to accept standard double stack AK magazines. The WASR-10, modified for double stack magazines, is one of the most popular AKM variants currently imported and sold in the United States. WASR-10s are known for their cold hammer forged, and chrome lined barrels. They are also known for their forged trunnions and bolt carriers. While once looked down upon, recent reviews, torture tests and write ups by Battlefield Las Vegas and Rob Ski from AK Operators Union have put the WASRs in great demand. They are known for their reliability and relatively low cost.
